Product safety is jointly determined by product quality and consumers' precaution efforts when using products. Product failures because of either party's negligence can cause deaths and injuries. The strict liability rule holds firms fully responsible for damages, while the comparative negligence rule allocates responsibilities based on the firm's negligence in product quality and the consumer's negligence in precaution efforts. This paper examines how these two common product liability rules affect firms and consumers when firms can advertise product quality deceptively, and consumers exert precaution efforts endogenously.

报告人简介：

关旭，教授/博导，供应链管理与系统工程系主任。2007年毕业于华中科技大学管理学院，获管理学学士学位; 2013年毕业于华中科技大学管理学院管理科学与工程专业，获管理学博士学位。主要研究方向为供应链管理、运营与市场结合，信息设计和平台经济。研究成果先后发表于Production and Operations Management，Information Systems Research, Marketing Science等商学院UTD 24期刊论文上，主持包括国家自然科学杰出青年科学基金在内的多项科研项目。现担任Service Science 期刊副主编（Associate Editor）和Management Science等国际权威学术期刊审稿人。
